Islip IDA Announces Aid for Businesses Damaged by Historic Rains

Islip, NY – In a continuing effort to provide assistance to individuals impacted by the record-breaking rain event on August 13, 2014, the Town of Islip Industrial Development Agency recently announced that it will aide businesses that suffered damage from the rains that caused significant flooding. The Islip Town Board – in its capacity as members of the IDA board - voted unanimously in favor of these measures that include exemptions from sales tax relating to repairs, improvements and replacement of equipment damaged from the powerful rains.

Economic Development Push Creates Job Retention & Expansion

Islip, NY – More than $5 million will be invested, nearly 20 new jobs created and 40 jobs retained, thanks to the unanimous approval of two separate Industrial Development Agency [IDA] inducement resolutions by Islip Town Board members today that will make way for one company to relocate and expand its business to Islip Town, while another, already doing business in Islip, plans to expand. These actions by the Islip Town Board are just the latest measures they have taken to attract and keep businesses in Islip.

IDA Secures Expansion, Job Creation from Tech Distributor

Islip, N.Y. – The Islip Town Industrial Development Agency (IDA) has reached an agreement with Reiko Wireless that will enable the company to expand their operations, creating dozens of new jobs in the process. Reiko Wireless – which has existing facilities in New York (Brooklyn), California, and Florida – worked with the Islip IDA to purchase a 130,000 sq. foot facility in Central Islip that will be used as an office and distribution center for their many products. The deal includes a 14-year tax abatement, which will allow the company to retain 36 jobs and add another 68.

Economic Development Projects Bring High-tech Jobs to Islip

Islip, NY – Universal Photonics, an international maker of specialized surface preparation materials for the optical industry, will soon move and expand its company headquarters to Central Islip, bringing with them, 60 high-tech jobs with competitive salaries that could have been lost if company officials had chosen to relocate out of state. The fruition of this nearly $3.8 million expansion project in Islip Town, is one step closer with the recent approval of an Industrial Development Agency Inducement Resolution by Islip IDA Board members, marking the seventh such IDA project approved by the pro-economic development board this year.
